Theory to Tactility

Coming back to base
From a day of trying to see,
Through hallowed eyes on hoodwinked time,
How it is to walk outside my skin.
I find that I am encased in tougher hide
Than what my acquired learning has lulled me to believe;
And though I retrieve inscribed utterances
That for loosening were spoken,
Yet torn flesh hangs, and distorted I walk.
